Monday March 31
Started out the day with a walk on the beach with my sister. It was perfect weather for walking and only the joggers were out. Unbeknownst to Kim, I do not 'walk' on a beach. It's more of a step step step, stoop and pick a up a shell. Repeat.
Anyway I was super excited to find some shells I had looked for on Sanibel Island last year but didn't find...the wentletrap and the white baby's ear. Kim just didn't understand how wonderful this was! I had to let Jacky, Ben and Maggie know what I had found as soon as I got back to the condo.
This is my wentletrap. The name comes from the German word 'wendeltreppe' meaning winding staircase.
My White Baby's Ear. The living baby's ear has such a large 'foot' it cannot be withdrawn into the shell.
Maybe you would like to see our condo. We are on the third floor of the building with the blue roof.
And finally...
Good night!

We're here!
Got in after an uneventful flight. We were starving so as soon as Kim's husband Collin picked us up, we headed to a fantastic seafood restaurant called " The Fish Monger". It's one of those where the menu is the fresh fish and shellfish that come in that very morning on the nearby pier. I had scallops which were the largest and most tender I have ever eaten. They were in a garlic butter sauce. There were 7 in all but I was only able to eat 4. The rest are for breakfast or brunch tomorrow.
Tried stopping at the grocery store so we could pick up breakfast items but they had just closed. Luckily Collin and the girls had stopped at a roadside stand yesterday and picked up some fresh mango, banana, oranges and peaches. I could get used to this!
The condo, located on Estero Island south of Fort Myers, is a high rise of condos whose owners rent them to people who live in Antartica and need a break. :-). We got in after dark but I am listening to the Gulf waters break against the shore as I sit in the condo writing this. I know the sunsets from our balcony on the third floor will be awesome. That's for tomororrow though. I have no pictures tonight as the cameras were packed away for travel.
I hope you follow this through the week. We have a cruise to Caya Costa planned for Wednesday, maybe Naples on Tuesday...but mostly beach time. See you tomorrow!
